The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andriy Parubiy proposed the Marszałek of the Polish Sejm Marek Kuhcinskij to sign a joint declaration with respect to the hazard posed by the construction of the gas pipeline Nord Stream 2.

As informed by the press service of the Verkhovna Rada, this had been discussed during their meeting within the working visit of Parubiy to Poland in order to participate in the ХХVII International Economic Forum in the city of Krynica-Zdrój.

“The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine proposed the Marszałek of the Polish Sejm to sign a joint declaration with respect to the hazard posed by the construction of the gas pipeline Nord Stream 2. Andriy Parubiy handed over the draft letter to his Polish colleague. This draft letter was discussed with the Chairman of the Lithuanian Seimas Viktoras Pranckietis during the recent meeting in Kyiv, and it was proposed to sigh it”, stated in the message.

As it was informed, the project “Nord Stream 2” provides for construction of two gas pipeline strings from the Russian coast through the Baltic Sea to Germany. According to the plan, the total throughput capacity should be 55 billion cubic meters per annum.

The company Nord Stream 2 AF was created to implement the project, which signed project financing agreements in April with Shell (Great Britain – the Netherlands), OMV (Austria), Engie (France), Uniper and Wintershall (both – Germany). In June, the partners transferred more than one billion Euro to the company’s accounts. It is expected that the pipeline will be launched in 2019.
